January was a long year, but we made it. Today, as I write this, it’s Imbolc – the halfway point between winter and spring. I really appreciate how much the calendar is devoted to reminding us that we’re steadily moving forward. I need that reminder right about now. The cold time of year just drags on and on for me. The promise of spring is giving me life. Although I guess that’s kind of the point, isn’t it?
We’re in the midst of Aquarius season, which brings with it the energy to get weird and change the world. Now’s a good time to get involved with a cause near to your heart. But your activism to work. You might make a new friend, but you’ll definitely feel good about yourself. February 18, we move into Pisces season, and the big open energy calms down a bit. You’ll probably find yourself doing a little more introverting and a little more introspection. So basically: do something great now, or you’ll be crying about it later.
This month’s featured plant is the one, the only Chamomile. I love chamomile. It has so many healing properties. We all know it’s good for relaxation and meditation, but did you know it also is used for luck and prosperity? And! Its calming properties extend to your skin, as well, so it can be used for skincare. Woot-woot! So, what’s in the box?
First up, we got a Prosperity spell. This one requires some DIY work from you to activate it. Inside the jar is chamomile (for prosperity), quartz (to amplify the energy), and small pieces of jade (for prosperity). Oh, and, FYI, jade is the most difficult rock to smash. I posted on Instagram about how it ripped a hole in a pan when I was trying to smash it. That’s some serious durability. That’s a good sign for resilience, right? Ok, anyway. What you wanna do is write down your intention on a small piece of paper, roll it up, and put it in the bottle. Then fill the bottle with an oil of your choice (anointing oil, olive, jojoba, whatever you got), and seal it with the cork. You can keep it under your pillow, with your piggy bank, or in your purse. Charge it under the full moon. Additionally, you can dab a bit of the oil onto your hands for luck when you need it. Like gambling, first date, before asking for a raise, etc. If you get rich, you gotta split it with me, though, ok? Nokay? Fine.
Next is chamomile sheet masks. Ok y’all. Listen. This was my first time making sheet masks. I used an organic cotton base, and soaked them in a lovely, chamomile concoction with vitamin e, jojoba, and witch hazel. It’s soothing, hydrating, and gentle. I intended to put 3 masks in each package, but some might have more than that. If you do, share them with someone you love. Nothing is more fun than a surprise facial! (Well… in some contexts.) Some are also folded kinda shitty because it was a lot harder to separate these things than I expected. Kind of the theme of this month. Harder than expected. But worth it!
You’ll also find some Hibernation tea. It’s like the extra-strength version of the zzz tea, with more chamomile in the base. If you’re not into tea, I have it on good authority that you can crush this up with a mortar and pestle, and turn it into a delicious incense. I haven’t actually tried it myself yet, though, so let me know how it goes, please?
And! Maybe best of all!! We’ve got some stickers and pins from Sarah Day! SarahDayArts.com and @sarahdayarts on Instagram. I am so in love with her art. It’s weird and beautiful and motivating and humble and wonderful all at once. I’m going to be honest: it took a lot for me to put these stickers in the boxes. I wanted to keep them all for myself. But that would have been selfish and rude, so I hope you fucking love them. ;) I’m definitely not jealous. Please please go check out all Sarah’s rad art. I bought a “Looking for Magic” shirt from her, and you could get it, and we could be twins!
What else? I guess that’s about it. I’ll talk to you sooner than later. I love you so much!
